Imagine

The Imagine RIT Interactive Advertising Photo Booth provides a unique behind-the-scenes experience that immerses the public in the world of professional photo shoots. Visitors see students in action, operating within a fully functional set and assuming key production roles such as art director, digital technician, stylist, PR, and more. This interactive installation highlights how a collaborative team works together—from planning and styling to photographing and managing the entire process—mirroring the realities of professional production teams. The experience emphasizes the complexity and creativity involved in advertising photography, offering visitors valuable insights into the role-specific skills and teamwork necessary to bring ideas to life in real-time.

From a teaching perspective, this project embodies a radical experiential learning philosophy. I believe students learn best through active participation—doing, making, and collaborating—rather than just observing. By engaging students directly in all aspects of a live shoot, they develop practical skills, critical thinking, and a deeper understanding of the workflow of professional photography production. This hands-on approach encourages problem-solving, adaptability, and leadership, helping students gain confidence in their abilities. It also reinforces the importance of teamwork, communication, and professionalism, which are vital in the industry. My goal is to prepare students not just to succeed in the classroom but to thrive in real-world settings, fostering independence and a proactive attitude toward their creative and technical growth. The interaction between the public and students creates a dynamic learning environment, where curiosity and collaboration lead to meaningful skill development and a richer educational experience
