ELEMENTS OF ADVERTISING
This course introduces students to the world of commercial photography, helping them develop essential skills while encouraging exploration of their artistic vision. Assignments are inspired by real-world projects, emphasizing practical techniques used in the field. Students will learn fundamental skills, including exposure metering, digital workflow, and professional camera operation, as well as training in the use of lighting equipment. A key component of the course is fostering a collaborative environment where experimentation and a personal approach are valued, empowering students to discover their unique voice within the commercial landscape. Throughout the course, I prioritize building strong relationships with students by understanding their strengths, ambitions, and limitations. I believe that creativity is rooted in freedom and exploration, and I encourage students to take ownership of their artistic development. The course also covers essential career skills like networking, marketing strategies, and understanding opportunities in portraiture and still life photography, both in-studio and on location. My goal is to help students not only acquire technical proficiency but also cultivate confidence, clarity, and authenticity in their work, preparing them to navigate and shape their professional practices with intention and integrity.
