Digi Tech bootcamp
This intensive workshop offers an in-depth exploration of the essential workflow used by today’s successful photographers and digital technicians. Designed for aspiring photographers and those looking to build a career as a digital tech, the course emphasizes the critical role that a skilled digital technician plays in the success of any photography shoot. Over the course of three days, students will work in groups, assuming specific roles to simulate real-world advertising production environments. They will utilize Capture One Pro software to develop the technical expertise necessary to excel in the marketplace.
The class is co-taught by RIT alumni and industry professionals Dom Mull, a working NY City digital technician with extensive experience in commercial productions, and Dave Gallagher of Capture Integration, a leading authority on digital workflow and technology. Their combined real-world expertise provides students with invaluable insights into the current industry standards, practices, and innovations. After passing two challenging tests, students will become Capture One Certified, a credential that significantly boosts their resumes and industry credibility.
My teaching philosophy centers on active, experiential learning. I believe students learn best by doing—engaging directly with the tools, workflows, and real-world scenarios they will face in their careers. Through collaborative work, hands-on practice, and rigorous testing, students develop confidence, technical competence, and industry-ready skills. I aim to create an environment where students are challenged, supported, and inspired to become professionals who can contribute immediately to any production. Ultimately, this course not only teaches technical proficiency but also encourages a proactive, entrepreneurial mindset—helping students see the digital technician role as a vital and lucrative part of their future in photography.
